Kyle and I were finally able to get out of the house and go on a hike for the first time in what feels like ages. It can get hard to make time to explore when life gets busy and you just want to relax on your days off. I'm glad we were able to go up on the mountain and get some fresh air though, even if it was rather brief.
The drive up, the roads were surprisingly well maintained!
There was so much snow! I always forget how much higher up the top of the mountain is. It wasn't too cold either, which was nice because we had both forgotten gloves. The forest was eerie and foggy, it was breathtaking.
The fog seemed a little less dense towards the middle of the trail to Hollyburn Lodge, but I think that was just because the trees were a little thinner the higher you hiked.
It was so foggy by the Lodge you could barely see across this small frozen over lake. Being in the fog in an open area made it feel as if there was something in my eyes clouding my vision.
At the top we stopped for poutine and of course some hot cocoa!
after eating too much and consuming more calories than we had burnt on the way up it was time to head back down.
On the way down it started to snow, well it was more like sleet or raining small dip-n-dots rather than actual snowflakes!
By the time we reached the bottom of the trail and the parking lot it was coming down rather hard! There was a fresh 1.5 inches on Kyle's car and we had been gone much less than an hour. The hike was well worth being pelted by the small balls of condensed snow! Hope fully next time we will be able to explore a bit more any even go on the snowshoeing path.
Thanks for reading! :D
(PS: sorry it took me waaaayyyy too long to actually make a blog post lol)
